Jalan Steel Group of Companies
The Jalan Steel Group was founded by Late Shri Nand Kishore Ji Jalan, known to everyone as Nandu Babu. A pioneer of the steel industry in his time, his name alone commanded trust across the trade, and that trust remains the foundation of the group today.
Mechanical Engineering Industries (MEI) was established in the 1990s. Shri Pradip Jalan, the second generation, has over 40 years of experience in steel and has worked closely with SAIL all along.
CA Chetan Jalan, the third generation, has taken the business to new heights. Together, the group has a legacy of over 65 years.
Under the Jalan Steel Group, our sister concerns — Indian Wire & Steel Products, Jalan Steel, and Jalan Projects & Merchants Pvt. Ltd. — are all engaged in the same trade, collectively forming one of the most integrated steel distribution networks in Eastern India.
MEI maintains 7,000+ tons of ready stock at strategic delivery points in Durgapur & Kolkata, supplying a complete basket of SAIL products: TMT, Angles, Channels, Beams, Plates, Chequered Plates, Wire Rods and HR Coil.
MEI is the highest SAIL offtaker in India, and an official distributor of SAIL NEX Structurals and SAIL SeQR TMT.
