What is Jalan Steel Group's relationship with SAIL?
Jalan Steel Group (operating via Mechanical Engineering Industries / MEI & Indian Wire and Steel Products) is an official Authorised Distributor and MOU customer of Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). We have been partner-distributors since 1960, specializing in direct plant allocations.
What is the Minimum Order Quantity (MOQ)?
Our minimum order quantity is strictly 40 Metric Tons (MT) per order. Because we operate as B2B wholesalers directly supplying from stockyards and SAIL mills, we do not handle small retail orders.
Where can I buy smaller retail quantities of SAIL steel?
For orders below 40 MT, you can buy from our extensive network of authorised retail steel dealers across West Bengal and Eastern India. Visit our Dealers page or contact our team to find your nearest retail partner.
How do you guarantee the quality and authenticity of the steel?
Every single invoice is accompanied by a correlated SAIL Mill Test Certificate matching the specific heat number of the steel dispatched. This ensures 100% custody chain traceability from the furnace to your construction site. We offer a full refund guarantee if any grade mismatch occurs.
Which stockyards do you operate from?
We operate from three strategic delivery stockyards in West Bengal: Dankuni (Hooghly) servicing Kolkata/Howrah/Hooghly, Jagannathpur (Durgapur), and Shalimar. These stockyards feature computerised weighbridges and heavy loading cranes.
Do you supply steel outside of West Bengal?
Yes. Through our dedicated logistics arm (Indian Wire and Steel Products), we provide PAN India steel delivery for large-scale infrastructure, commercial, and industrial projects.
What is the standard delivery timeline after placing an order?
We guarantee dispatch within 48 hours of receiving a confirmed Purchase Order (PO) and payment terms clearance, thanks to our robust ready inventory of over 7,000 MT.
What grades of SAIL structural steel and TMT bars do you stock?
We stock SAIL NEX Structural Steel in IS 2062 E250 BR and E350 BR grades (Angles, Channels, Beams, Columns). For TMT bars, we supply SAIL SeQR in Fe-500D and Fe-550D grades, prized for high ductility and earthquake resistance.
Can we get customized lengths of structural steel?
Yes. We have on-site cutting facilities at our stockyards to provide custom cut-to-length steel sections, helping eliminate site wastage and reduce fabrication labor.
Do you support mixed loads in a single vehicle?
Yes. To optimize logistics and fit project timelines, we allow mixed loads (e.g. structural channels + TMT rebars + plates) in a single dispatch truck, provided the overall order meets the 40 MT threshold.
